My guest for the most recent Giant Size (titled "Mahnke Mentoring", and soon to post in the feed) is artist Tom Nguyen, best known for his inking work for DC Comics.
I've listed a few collections that include what I consider great examples of his work. It's all Green Lantern, so consider this a mini-GL crash course. If you're getting into GL for the first time, you should start with Geoff Johns & Ivan Reis' Green Lantern: Secret Origin, which retells the origin of Hal Jordan and is designed to let you jump into the world of GL. As always, I recommend preferring and supporting your Friendly Local Comic Shop to Amazon or ComiXology if possible, but it's all a matter of choice. Choose where you shop wisely.

Green Lantern: Blackest Night (Tie-ins)
Tom inked these over Doug Mahnke's pencils, and if there is one set of tie-in stories to read from Blackest Night, it's these. For the most part, all of the events of BN still "happened" in the New 52 chronology, as far as I know. (Amazon: $15, ComiXology has individual issues of the entire event, including all crossovers). Blackest Night finds a Black Lantern Corps rise alongside the Lucky Charms rainbow collection of other colored lantern groups. The dead rise, including not only heroes, but their dead friends and family. The title comes from one of the oldest parts of GL lore, the Lantern Oath:
"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power--Green Lantern's light!"
Blackest Night #0
Free on ComiXology, this is the one of the "core" Blackest Night issues that Tom worked on. The rest of the issues are worth a read, of course (Amazon: $15, ComiXology has individual issues).
Brightest Day
The followup to Blackest Night features Tom's work throughout all three volumes (Amazon: Volume 1 [$15], Volume 2 [$15], Volume 3 [$12], available on ComiXology in individual issues). A White Ring power emerges following Blackest Night, and recruits a team to help find the most worthy person to take the role of White Lantern.
Green Lantern (New 52)
This run of GL, which began in late 2011, requires relatively little if any familiarity with Green Lantern to jump into, but really does read better with the foundational knowledge you get out of Blackest Night and Brightest Day. The 31 flavors of lanterns are a little overwhelming to the new reader: green, red, blue, indigo, blue, and more. There are two volumes of this in trade paperback (Amazon: Volume 1 [$13], Volume 2 [$15]), which are essential reading. The book really picked up for me with the introduction of new GL Simon Baz, whose issue #0 (ComiXology link) introduction and framing I discussed with Tom in this episode.
